ED has a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and has spent the better part of his career immersed in science teaching. As an instructor at Northwestern University, he noticed that the sciences weren’t the career path of choice for many. With this in mind, he switched gears and began teaching at a neighborhood high school to see whether he could catch students early enough to keep science alive in their minds and their hearts.
Ed is also a National Board Certified “Master Teacher,” and taught in CPS for ten years before moving to The Laboratory where he is an Education Consultant. He won an innovation grant that allowed him to redevelop science and math curriculums in CPS with a team from Northwestern University. He has also developed a Forensic Science curriculum for both a neighborhood and top-rated magnet high school in CPS.
When he’s not busy making science fun again, Ed enjoys building things, skateboarding, and prides himself on riding his bike to work even in blizzard conditions.
